Herman Cain: Legalizing Medical Marijuana Up to States

Herman Cain said if states want to legalize medical marijuana, that would be all right with him.

Cain said the issue fits into his theory that states have the right to decide certain things for themselves.

“If states want to legalize medical marijuana, I think that’s a state’s right,” Cain said while campaigning in Iowa according to NBC News. “Because one of my overriding approaches to looking at all of these issues — most of them belong at the state, because when you do something federally… you try to force one-size-fits-all.”

Cain now joins Ron Paul and forgotten candidate Gary Johnson as the only GOP presidential hopefuls who support medical marijuana in one way or another.

Republican voters also seem to support it. An April 2010 poll found 61% of Republicans said they favor legalizing medical marijuana.
